Mary Virginia Coleman

Mary Virginia Coleman (Hawkins), 89, of Beaumont died peacefully January 27 at Silsbee Convalescent Center.

She was born to the late Travis Hawkins and Emma McGaughey (King), September 17, 1924, in Vidor. Mary was a graduate of Vidor High School. She was married to the late Billy Russell Coleman.

Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. Among her many passions were attending church and reading. Prior to residing at Silsbee Convalescent Center, Mary enjoyed attending Lamar Baptist Church. She had many friends and acquaintances, including several remarkable friends and staff at Silsbee Convalescent Center.

Mary was survived by a sister, Eva LaCombe and husband James of Beaumont; a son, Joseph Coleman and wife Marcia of Avon Lake, Ohio; two nieces, Shelly Weatherford of Vidor and Beverly Hawkins Poplin of Dallas; two nephews, Charlie Clayton of Vidor and Ronnie Hawkins of Dallas; three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Madison, and Jackson; and many great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday, January 31, at Claybar-Kelly Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral services will take place at Claybar-Kelly Watkins Funeral Home Saturday, February 1, at 10:00am, followed by a graveside service at Haven of Rest in Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
