A Life Remembered

Obituary

Mrs. Mary Louise (Brown) Byerly, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at age 96 on June 25, 2019, in Beaumont.

Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation, on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., officiated by David Cross.

Mary Louise was born on September 11, 1922 to the late Libby Brown and the late Gane Hamilton Brown. Mary Louise attended and graduated from Walnut Hill High School in Oak Grove Florida. She was a Day Care worker in the Friendship Baptist Church until retiring in 1985 and a Caregiver for children until retiring in 1998. Mary Louise was married to the late Earl Byerly. She had a passion for working in the yard, and growing beautiful flowers. Mary Louise was a member at Woodland Baptist Church. She loved Jesus Christ and was always concerned about the salvation of anyone she met or talked with. Mary Louise read her Bible every morning and prayed fervently for those who needed it. She loved to sing many of the old church hymns. The family would like to thank Judy Trahan for the love and care that she gave “mom”. Judy cared for her like she was her own mother and was available whenever we needed her. And a special thank you to Southeast Texas Hospice and all the nurses who cared for her.

She was preceded in death by her son, Fred Byerly; brothers, Alfred Brown, Willard Brown, Keel Brown, Dale Brown and Floyd Alan Brown; and sisters, Elma Hall, Wanda Ruth Biggs, and Grace Lanell Brown.

Mary is survived by her son, James Byerly and wife Tammy; daughters, Carol Byerly, Betty Cotten and husband Kenneth, and Mary Williams and husband Phillip; brother, Chuck Brown; sisters, Betty Lois Mooney, Margaret Mae Jones, Patsy Faye Morgan, Gail Ebbson, Shirley Black, June Turner, and Joy Calhoun; and grandchildren, Travis Cotten, Nathan Cotten, Becky Lynn Byerly, Conrad Williams, Stephanie Hernandez, Jesse Adkins, Lana Byerly, Fred Ruggles and Boyd Ruggles Byerly. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
