Born in Beaumont, Texas, on February 4, 1958, he was the son of John Ottis Lakey and Doris Agnes Gaston Lakey. Mark retired from Kenan Advantage Group, formerly Enterprise, where he worked as a truck driver and made many lifelong friends. He found joy in fishing and he embraced the open road in his love for travel. These passions brought him peace and fulfillment, allowing him to enjoy nature and explore new destinations. Mark's greatest joy, however, was his time spent with his wife. Together, they created a life filled with memorable adventures and cherished moments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Lakey; and his brothers, Timmy Lakey, and Johnny Lakey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Lakey; his sister, Peggy Gilley, of Lumberton; his nephew, Doug Gilley and wife, Stephanie, of Silsbee; his niece, Lori Cobb and husband, Paul, of Houston; his brothers-in-law, Darrell Foret, of Beaumont, Durwood Foret, of Beaumont, and Dustan Foret and wife Malinda, of Arkansas; his sisters-in-law, Dorinda Taylor and husband, Larry, of Florida, and Dwaina Sechrist and husband, Keith, of Lumberton; his step-daughters, Kelly Fussell, of LaGrange, and DeAnna Crouch and husband, Jay D., of Flatonia; his step-son, Deano Salles and wife, Erika, of Beaumont; his grandchildren, Brooke Tuter and husband, Chad, of Mauriceville, Kimberlyn Salles, of LaGrange, Jason Fussell, of LaGrange, Wyatt Crouch, of Flatonia, James Salles, of Beaumont, and Simon Salles, of Beaumont; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

Messages of Love

From family and friends

Mark was my best childhood friend. He was like a family member to my parents and my siblings. So many fond memories of him. Motorcycle riding, fishing and boating. Always happy and could brighten up any surrounding with his quick wit and humor. True believer in Christ. Until we meet again my friend.

So sorry for your loss. Mr. Lakey was a very good driver for us at Enterprise. He was always very efficient at his job.
