Larry Eugene Baker

Larry Eugene Baker, 74, of Sour Lake, passed away on November 29, 2020, in Flower Mound, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation will begin prior to the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Steven M. Balke, Jr., of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery.

Born in Longmont, Colorado, on October 12, 1946, he was the son of Francis Eugene Baker and Curly (Dagle) Baker. Larry was a loving husband and father. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Larry graduated from Hardin Jefferson High School in 1964. He went on to attend and graduate from Lamar University with a degree in History. Larry worked for the Southwestern Bell Phone Company for over 30 years up until his retirement. He enjoyed spending his time golfing and with his family and friends. Larry will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Ilona “Nan” Baker and his parents, Francis and Curly Baker.

He is survived by his children, Brandie Focken and her husband, Christopher of Forney, Texas, and Joshua Eugene Baker of Kirbyville, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew Focken and Maddilyn Focken both of Forney, Texas; siblings, Keith Baker and his wife Jenny, of Marble Falls, Texas, and Phil Baker and his husband, Ronald Chevalier of Beaumont, Texas; numerous, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

I remember Larry from the early days of our careers at SWBT. He was always professional and at the same time, very cordial. Enjoyed our service rep training classes together. RIP, friend. Prayers to the family.
