Jerry Don Christopher, beloved father, Paw Paw, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 3, 2026.
He was born in Anson, TX on October 14, 1932, to Cleo Judson Christopher and Velma Smith Christopher. He graduated from French High School in 1951 and married his high school sweetheart Lottie Mae Carr later that year. He then attended Lamar Tech and graduated through the IBEW program as an electrician. In 1957, he was drafted into the Army and served in Germany until 1958 as a radio repairman. He worked as an electrician at Hinote Electric before opening his own business, Christopher Electric, where he was a master electrician in Beaumont, TX.
Jerry was a hard-working family man. He was quiet, easy-going, loved classic country music, was a good dancer and loved watching sports. He was well-liked and made many life-long friends in the Beaumont business community during his working years. Jerry lost his wife Lottie to cancer in 2001 after 50 years of marriage. In 2002, he married Margie Kelly Worthy and resided in Lumberton, TX until her death from cancer in 2019.
He is survived by his sister Joann Collins of Bridge City, brother Stanley Christopher and wife Tammy of Jasper, son Donnie Christopher and wife Cecilia of Beaumont, son Jay Christopher and wife Jackie of China, daughter Janet “Sissy” Christopher, 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Velma Smith Christopher, father Cleo Judson Christopher, his step-mother Juanice, first wife Lottie Christopher, his second wife Margie Christopher, sister Virginia Gail Sims, and his great-granddaughter Amelia Benson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 pm at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Home, 1155 North Eleventh Street, Beaumont, TX 77702. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10:00 am at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, in Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Harbor Hospice or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
