J.R. "Red" Smith

J.R. Smith, 88, of Beaumont, passed away on June 20, 2020, in Beaumont.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park Cemetery, in Port Neches, Texas

Officiating will be Dr. James R. Fuller of Calder Baptist Church in Beaumont.

Born in Cleburne County, Alabama, on July 3, 1931, he was the son of William Isaiah Smith and Nora (Hyatt) Smith. J.R. Smith was a loving husband. He was the owner of Smith Painting Works, Inc. and a member of Calder Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friend. J.R. Smith may be gone but he left behind many wonderful memories for his family and friends to remember him by.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Isaiah Smith and Nora (Hyatt) Smith and a number of brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife Charlexa Smith; brother, Carlos Smith and his wife Carmen; nephews, Danny Wade Gaylor, William Douglas Gaylor, Tommy Gaylor, and Robert Gaylor; brother-in-law, Billy Roy Ballard and his wife Janis; sister-in-law, Margaret Sue Tally; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calder Baptist Church, 1005 N 11th St, Beaumont, TX 77702.
