Obituary

Funeral services for Gordon J. Fontenot, 71, of Beaumont will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church Beaumont with Rev. Bill Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Friday, June20, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Fontenot is survived by his wife, Kitty Fontenot; sons, Brent Fontenot and his wife, Renee, of Orange, Brant Fontenot and his wife, Tasha, of Orange; daughter, Angela Burris and her husband, Brent, of Houston; five grandchildren, Lindsey Fontenot, Lauren Richard, Ashley Burris, Matthew Fontenot and Ryan Fontenot; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kayden Richard; and one sister, Shelia Vaughan.

Shocked and saddened to learn of Gordon passing....Spent many happy and fun times with him at Jefferson Chemical back in the mid sixties. When he moved over to the E Units we didn't have daily contact but stayed in touch...When we were both supervisors and he was retiring he came by my office for a good visit and we shared a lot of memories....We loved to pick on each other back in our early days down at drumming and came to respect each other over the years. The world is a lesser place without you Gordon....Adios my friend Mike DeCoux

Gordon was my shift supervisor at the E-4 unit .He could'nt stay still for very long,we threatened to duct tape him to a chair.He was an excellent boss ! I thought highly of him. Enough so that I volunteered to go with him to help start-up the old A-3 ethylene unit. That blasted unit took months of hard work to get on line.Gordon was the hardest worker out there;we had to force him to go home for a break on multiple occassions. In spite of the harsh conditions Gordon always took exceptional care of his people.We had many hilarious episodes ,some of which included his sons!!!!!! Rest in Peace Boss,Rest in Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
