Obituary
Doris Davis, 88, of Beaumont, TX passed away January 12, 2015. She was born June 29, 1926 in Buna, TX to Lillian Curry Wright and Thomas Rupert Wright, Sr.
A service celebrating Mrs. Davis’ life will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home in Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ralph V. Davis and her sister, Dorthea Miller. She is survived by her son, Ron Davis and his wife, Belinda, of Lumberton, TX; daughters, Lynne Davis, of Beaumont and Karen Warner and her husband, Ben, of Alba, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric Davis, Matt Davis and his wife, Courtney, Kerri McCurdy and her husband, David, and Jennifer Poff and her husband, Charles; great-grandchildren, Mattie Jane Davis, Hayley Poff, C. J. Poff and Zachary Barrett; brother, T. R. Wright, Jr. and sisters, Pauline Davis and Mary Krystyniak.
After graduating as Salutatorian at the age of 16 from Buna High School in the class of ‘43 she met and married Ralph in 1948. They lived in Beaumont and attended North End Baptist Church.
After retiring they moved to Colmesneil for 28 years and attended First Baptist Church there. While in Colmesneil she was active in The Order of the Eastern Star, Tyler Co Home Extension, painting lessons and craft shows Following hurricane Rita she returned to Beaumont and rejoined North End Baptist Church.
