A Life Remembered

Obituary

Doris Barrett

Doris “Dot” Barrett, 79, went to be with our Lord and Savor on Friday July 24, 2020.

A private burial will be held for family only following cremation at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger, Texas.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana on November 28, 1940, she was the daughter of Daniel and Mary Senn. Doris “Dot” was a member of the Eastern Stars. She loved collecting porcelain bird figurines, particularly hummingbirds. In her younger days she enjoyed dancing and being with her friends at the hang out known as “505”. A favorite family vacation of hers was always going to the “barn”, watching picture slides on the slide carousel with the whole family and playing dominos until the kids couldn’t stay up any longer. In her later days she favored spending time talking to her longtime friends and having her hair done every week at On-Stage II by N’Cole. Anyone that met her automatically fell for her warm personality. She was a true friend to everyone and turned away no one. She truly loved the Lord, her family, and friends, and will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Mary Senn; and the love of her life, Larry Barrett.

She is survived by her children, Shlane Barrett of Woodville, Paige Brown of Kountze; grandchildren, Taylor and Colton Brown; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.

In Liew of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Lung Association at 2550 N Loop W #265, Houston, Texas 77092.

To Paige, Schlane, Taylor, and Colton, I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom and grandma. I have fabulous memories of feeling a warm welcome from her, sitting on the couch in her living room with her listening to my young antics and laughing hard. She was always so caring toward me in my younger years. I think of her and smile. What a legacy you have in her!! Big love & big hugs to you all. :heartpulse::heartpulse::heartpulse:
