Obituary
Charles Thomas Pierce went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 17, 2021. He was born on April 12, 1931, in Robertsdale, Alabama to John Thomas Pierce and Esther Mamie (Phillips) Pierce. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family that included his brother Alvin “Buddy” Pierce and his sister Ruby Pierce Cooley.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Mae Pierce and his oldest son, Charles Evan Pierce. He is survived by his son and daughter in-law, Michael Arnold Pierce and Marcia Pierce; son, Robert “Robbie” Randall Pierce, and his daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Deon Pierce. Charles is also survived by his grandchildren, Angel Hunt Pessink, Cain Pierce, Ben Pierce, Josh Pierce, Jessica Pierce Dempsey, Nicholas Hunt, Chris Pierce, Jacob Pierce, Angela Hunt Boyd, Selena Hunt, Sabrina Hunt and Sean Hunt. He also had 19 great-grandchildren. PawPaw was loved by all and will be missed.
Charles was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Charles joined the Beaumont Fire Department on February 1, 1958 and retired on January 31, 1986, following 28 years of service. He was a member of Beaumont Professional Fire Fighter’s Local 399.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home on 11th St. in Beaumont. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2021, at First United Methodist Church, 701 Calder Ave, in Beaumont. A graveside service will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery on Hwy 90.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cain Pierce, Ben Pierce, Josh Pierce, Nicholas Hunt, Chris Pierce, and Jacob Pierce.
