A Life Remembered

Obituary

Billie Chisholm Savoie, age 77, of Groves, Texas, transitioned to glory on April 19, 2026.

Born on January 16, 1949, in Meridian, Mississippi, Billie was a beloved and unforgettable presence in the lives of all who knew her. She left an indelible mark on her family, her church, her friends, and the many lives she touched through her grace, strength, hospitality, and unwavering faith.

Billie was married to her best friend, Clyde E. Savoie Jr., for 43 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, service, and love for the Kingdom of God.

Billie was a woman of both class and grit, a rare and beautiful combination that defined the way she lived. She carried herself with elegance and dignity, yet possessed a deep strength and steadfast endurance that carried her through life’s hardest seasons. She loved excellence, cared about the details, and gave herself wholeheartedly to whatever she put her hands to.

Billie’s acts of service for the kingdom are too many to list as she served faithfully for all of her adult life. Here are a few - She served as church secretary at First Pentecostal Church of Jackson, Mississippi, under the leadership of Rev. Thomas L. Craft from 1973 to 1983. She also served as the Deaf Evangelism Director for the United Pentecostal Church International from 1981 to 1995, where she served with excellence. Billie was a wonderful Sunday School teacher for most of her adult life. She faithfully loved working in KidsView at The Apostolic Church of Beaumont on Sunday mornings and Tuesday nights, where she poured herself into the lives of children with firm but friendly care. She was not only YaYa to her beloved grandson, Harrison , but over the last 11 years, she became ”YaYa” to what felt like every child who came through KidsView.

Billie also worked faithfully alongside Clyde at Clyde’s Hairloom throughout the entirety of their marriage. She deeply valued those who worked alongside them through the years and built countless friendships with customers who, over time, became like family. Billie was also an excellent cook and always looked forward to sharing a home-cooked meal with her family and friends. Billie was never very far from her camera, always ready to preserve a memory.

Billie also had a gift for making people feel welcome. No matter the day or season, if someone needed a place to go, Billie made room at her table. Her home was a place of warmth, beauty, and belonging. She loved people deeply, welcomed generously, and cared more about people than position, status, or circumstance.

Above all else, Billie loved her family beyond what words can describe. She dearly loved Clyde, Elizabeth, David and Harrison, and that love was evident in the way she served, gave, prayed, and made a home for those she cherished most.

Most of all, Billie leaves behind a legacy of loving God and faithfully working for His Kingdom. Even through suffering, her faith remained strong. She never allowed hardship to define her life; instead, she continued to point others to God. Her life was a testimony of class in how she lived, grit in how she endured, and faith in how she finished.

Billie is survived by her loving husband, Clyde E. Savoie Jr. of Groves, Texas; her daughter, Elizabeth Bandy, and her husband, David, of Groves, Texas; her grandson, David Harrison Bandy; her brother, Basil Chisholm, and his wife, Dana; numerous nieces and nephews; The Apostolic Church of Beaumont family; the many KidsView children who lovingly called her “YaYa”; and a host of dear friends.

Her life was beautiful, her faith was settled, and her testimony will live on in all who knew and loved her.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday evening, April 24, 2026 at The Apostolic Church of Beaumont, located at 3333 Eastex Fwy, Beaumont, Texas from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A home going service will be held on Saturday morning, April 25, 2026 at 10:00am, also at The Apostolic Church of Beaumont. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, Texas.

Billie was dearly loved! She was a bright light everywhere she went… always with a smile on her face! We will always treasure the years that we were “neighbors” ….but also so very glad that those years extended into when we all became grandparents! She will be greatly missed! Her legacy of touching lives will live on and on and on💗
The Stephens Family April 24, 2026
Every memory of Billie we have is of her smiling. She was always so kind and warm every time we saw her no matter how long it had been. She was present at me, my mom and youngest daughter’s baptism and she prayed over us. Her mere presence was a light in the room. She will be missed but I know she is with Jesus and just waiting for all of us to join her one day.

Billie would tell me many times as I set by her after church “Girl you and I go way back”. I got to know this classy lady when we moved to Jackson, Mississippi. She and I went through many things together. But Billie always had a smile and always knew what and when to say the right thing. Always encouraging!! I love you Billie and you will be so missed. After reading the Obituary I have to say “WELL DONE”!!! Whoever authored it totally captured the “Classy Christian Lady” that I met while attending JCM and First Pentecostal Church, Jackson, Mississippi. She was always full of Personality, Vim and Vigor! Dressed to a “T”, Gracious, Kind, Polite, Articulate, Caring… and LOVED JESUS & PEOPLE! She loved People (No matter what their lot in life) She loved Truth, her Church. and loved sharing all the above with Everyone! I was shocked to see and hear about her “Going Home”! ❤️🙏❤️🙏 Blessings, Comfort and Strength to her Family, her Church and those who loved her!!! She would be astounded at her deep impact on SO MANY SOULS AND LIVES!

Prayers ongoing for this precious family. Nothing can replace a Mother’s place or a spouse’s lifelong love. We can only see where she has been. She has left a very long path for us to follow and a beautiful example of God’s Love and how we should live.
